Decorating is an art and taking advantage of the qualities
of color, furniture and ornaments to beautify the home environments, is
something that we can achieve for ourselves, taking advice from what the
experts dictate. Today we give you some ideas to decorate small rooms. Small
details that make a difference in these easy proposals.
Walls in small rooms
Choose light and bright colors for the walls, such as soft
mauve or a pale cream, to add warmth to the site. You can also go for the color
white, because it provides a lot of light, but keep in mind that it does not
give depth to the walls. That is why it is better that that white has a little
touch of gray or another tonality, which is known as broken white.
You must take advantage of the color, to contrast the white
of the ceiling and pastel colors of the walls, through the furniture and
decoration accessories. The ideal is to choose colors darker than the walls, to
achieve a depth effect. The clear walls move away, while the slightly darker
furniture approaches, this will give a feeling of depth, and therefore, greater
space.
In the photo below, for example, the color of the wall is
practically the same as that of the armchair, and the living room looks very
flat. This is a mistake that is advisable to avoid.
In the photo below, for example, the wall is darker than the
chair. This makes the wall seem closer. It is not a good choice either.
Although, thanks to the color of the cushions, this point has been balanced and
improved.
In the photo below, the back wall of dark gray and another
wall of white has been painted, achieving depth. The furniture in light tones,
also play in conjunction with this wall, helping to deepen it.
Furniture in small rooms
Avoid exaggerated furniture and extravagant forms, and rely
on classic furniture that can be the safest and easiest option. It is better to
have right angles, since they can better accommodate the available space,
making the most of each square meter.
It is better to invest in modular pieces, such as stackable
shelves, for example, that can be configured to fit the space. Ikea, for
example, offers a lot of modular furniture that you can configure according to
your needs and requirements. They are also very useful in these cases, the
chairs that come in modules. Or for example, cube-shaped seats that can be
hidden under a coffee table when they are not needed, as we see in the photo.
It is also advisable to concentrate the furniture in a
limited space, that is, not to place them scattered throughout the room but in
a space of the same. Put them together in one area of the room, leaving a
feeling of more space in the rest of the room. In addition, this will make the
room feel more welcoming.
Curtains
If you plan to use curtains in the windows, keep in mind
that they are better than those that are long until the floor, since they will
give the sensation that the ceiling is higher, and therefore, that the space is
bigger.
Luminary
A good option for the luminaire is to place it so that it is
focusing on striking objects such as a painting, or simply giving an effect to
the wood of a piece of furniture during the night.
Mirrors
You can place a mirror on the wall or a decorative detail
that has crystals, that reflects the light and gives a feeling of brightness
and more space.
Order
If you have a small room, discard the idea of scattered
cushions everywhere, they should be well aligned because order is a crucial
aspect to better see a small room, in this case the living room. Place wall
ornaments of a regular size and do not exaggerate, or you will make the wall
look overloaded and that makes the living room look small.
